NEWSLINE –May
28th
Hail Hail Bhoys & Ghirls,
’Jesus said to Thomas, ‘Put
your finger here and see my hands. Reach
out your hand and put it in my side.
Do not doubt but believe.’ Thomas
answered him, ‘My Lord and my
God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have
you believed because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.’
John 20:24-29
WE BELIEVED
AND WE WON
Oh ye of little Faith. It was not long
ago some of the Doubting Thomas’
amongst us had given up hope in winning
the league. But points on the board
are always better than games in hand
and so it was proven. An emotion filled
night at Tannadice saw Celtic beat Dundee
Utd. 1-0 courtesy of a Jan Vennegoor
of Hesselink header and with it, the
Hoops 42nd League Championship, 3-In-A-Row.
If there’s one thing we’ve
learned in the journey of life as a
Celtic supporter, it’s never give
up. The players never gave up, the management
never gave up and for the most part,
the fans never gave up. While season
2007/2008 won’t be remembered
for flamboyant football, this title
will go down as one of the sweetest
as the Hoops Heroes battled against
all the odds. Memories of Mr. Celtic,
Tommy Burns will forever be associated
with this championship. Goodnight and
God Bless Tommy, this one’s for
you.
